xx Things That Go Bite In The Night
« Thread started on: Apr 14th, 2017, 3:52pm »

Transylvania was always a place of mystery. Werewolves, skeletons, witches, monsters, and anything else imaginable cooked up from many imaginations. Or so some think. The most popular of these 'superstitions' creep in the dark, undetected until one finds teeth sinking into flesh, too late to cry out or defend.

These are no mere superstitions, and some humans fear these elegant beasts, while others have the faint fire to become one, only to find it brings nothing more than pain and suffering. But, such is life. Yet the twisted lines between human and, well, inhuman, are never drawn clearly. Such is the same for a brooding individual.

The moon full on a blustery night, with a castle looming in the distance, not much different from the famous Count's, with brick mortar, stone walls with a Renaissance ring to it. The forest itself was dark and dreary, it was a shock many humans dared to face the horrors that dwell inside. Those that were lucky to make it out alive have long since passed in time, and countless more were taken by the grips of the forest. A single pair of beady, yellow eyes peers around one of the trunks, it's line of sight glaring at the borderline. A road that split the human world from to some what seemed a different world entirely.

Stepping a bare foot into the moonlight, pale skin kissed by the light, a slim leg attired with a silk-laced skirt revealed itself to the night. The skirt did not hide her legs, but merely draped over them like a fishnet as the other leg joined in. Similar sleeves reached from the wrists to the elbows, and also from the shoulders down across her biceps, leaving about an inch worth of skin to be fully seen just above the elbow. A thin, red corset seemingly constricted the girl's bosom down to her thighs, and on top of that covering the midriff up to and around her neck was a vest with a collar similar to a buttoned shirts folded all the way up. Locks of golden hair slipped out in the open, followed by a thin face as the hair was thrust back behind her, curling around her slender shoulders. Small ears, a rounded nose, and thin eyebrows framed the piercing eyes. They were alluring yet they also had a sense of awe that drew most in without a second thought. Pillowy, pink lips filled her thin cheekbones as the girl was now in full view of the moon above her.

Despite being rather thin, the curves of her hips and bust, the slender tilt of her arms and legs made her a sight humans would turn green over in a heartbeat. A faint scent was in the air that drew her this far from the castle. A sly grin revealed white teeth, her red tongue slowly licking them.
"So my senses weren't deceiving me. Let's just have a little peek at the little thing," she whispered to herself before slipping back into the dark forest, lurking for her next chase.

For many, Transylvania is a place where nobody in their right mind would even question or nose around in the secret parts of the region. But that didn't meant that their weren't a few people that managed to build up the courage to go into the deeper parts of this unknown area of the world. From explorers to tourists and to mercenaries, none of them were ever heard of again. That, or they just gave up during the last legs of the journey. However, there was one that was determined to go into this dark land where the mysterious creatures called home, or so the tales say. A nearby church of sorts actually decided to take action against the tales of the dark creatures that lived in this place. For you see, they could no longer live in this place of mystery, where dark magic and creatures moved a be-fuddled Transylvania. Either they could prove that the dark side of the region was gonna be casted out with the death of an evil force, or they found nothing and proved that the rumors were just that. To go on this mission, they enlisted the help of a young altar boy by the name of Randolph Markav.

The young boy honestly didn't really think he was ready for this mission towards this so called castle that they asked him to go to. He was only doing this out of sheer boredom and the like, and he was picked from his daily service and not some sort of soldier. Surely a soldier would be more suited for the job than he was. His lean, but average looking body was covered only in a thin sheet of steel armor that snugly fit his chest and baggy camo-flauge leggings that were grey and white in color. He also wore a white cape that had a white hood that covered his somewhat tanned face with green eyes and black hair tied to a pony-tail. Slung over his right shoulder was a brown satchel that had his assortment of holy-water, some potions he made himself, and a dagger with pure white steel just in case things got ugly. They couldn't even be bothered to give him a sword, because he was nothing but a scout to them. He rolled his eyes at the thought of just having a dagger to defend himself at this place. It didn't help the eighteen-year-old that he was being sent to this castle to "report" anything out of the ordinary. That had to be the most boring job for him a at this time. He looked at his gray boots and wiped some mud off as he neared the front of the castle.

Defying the laws of physics entirely, the girl leapt from tree to tree as if she were a squirrel, only an occasional rustle here and there. The scent was close now, and her licking of her fangs only increased, she had to catch herself from drooling. That's when she spotted it, and her sneer grew wider. She lined the tree as if she was part of it, slinking a leg around the trunk with her back facing it. She took a big whiff, breathing a sigh, only to look and see a few silhouettes surrounding the prey she clearly had smelled first. Her stare turned sour and penetrating as three male vampires had stepped out. These three in particular were idiots, at least in her eyes.

They were each of average size. One might even say they were triplets, but then again most vampires with construed faces seemed to look the same, especially these males. Their clothes were similar to Victorian clothing, but tattered and loosely hanging from their body. These ones had grey-pale skin, for they confined themselves more to the caves than the castle, for she kept them out for this long. She figured they were going to test her again, only to meet the boy.
"Well, this one looks just prime for the picking," one drooled to his left. "Not such a good fashion sense, but that won't matter soon. Get him!" he said, the one behind him the first to lunge. They didn't take any time to look at what Randolph had with him, and he sank his fangs right in the breastplate, reeling backwards and clamping hands to his face and growling profusely. The girl would tell that this boy could take care of himself with these goons, though his scent was getting stronger.

She shook her head. No... not now, dearie. Let's see what more this succulent morsel has, then I might strike. At least the other mongrel's noticed more of his apparel.
"A bolder one than we normally get. I see you've come for a bit more than a stray wandering, didn't you, boy?"

Randolph froze at the three vampires coming out of the woodwork quickly. Okay, apparently the tales were true, and were as common as being noticed by a sparrow. These three seemed like the lamest Victorian citizens he had ever seen, and surprisingly not as intelligent in ganging up on him as he thought. Suddenly, he felt a weight on his back and he fell to the ground. Fortunately, the vampire stupidly did not know the concept of metal armor and he felt the sharp teeth practically tearing themselves on the metal. He was pretty amazed that he didn't ruin his only means to kill him easily. They didn't even bother to check his satchel for his supplies. He smirked and got up with a confident smile. "Nice job, but let's see how you react to this!" He wasted in time in quickly getting up and taking out the bottle of holy water, pouring a little on his hand and clasping his hand on the pained vamps face. He also took out his dagger and used his grip on the vamps head to throw him at the second one and took a battle stance with a glare on his face.

"Now...I am a servant of god and the holy fire that is sent to purge evil." He said in the calmest tone he could muster, but even he admitted that a slight tremble laid on his lower lip. "I'll give you a choice: either leave me in peace and I'll let you live to feast another day, or water will be the last thing you ever felt in your countless years."

A scream of agony pierced the sky as he was thrown into the second one, his hands clamped on his face and writhing on the ground. The same one leapt and ran from the scene, while the act only angered the other two.
"Oh, you're one of those..." the third one said. "It will be all the more fulfilling to suck you dry." The two circled him until they were on his right and on his left, both leaping to grapple his arms. The one on his right jumped the gun a little bit, and just as the second lunged, a slender arm wrapped around the chest and tossed him back, his back slamming into a tree, dazed to allow the girl to land on him.
"Hello, meatbag. Don't you know it's unfair to outnumber someone else," she hissed.

The last man was able to grapple an arm. Unfortunately for him he grasped the arm with the blade, the other arm still free and lined with the holy water. The vampires fangs were out and sinking towards his arm without giving it much thought. The girl didn't know if this boy had noticed her yet, but didn't bother to check as her arm pressed into the neck of the one she had pinned.
"What's it to you? Why defend him?!" he choked out, only for her to press further with a strained face and pursed lips.
"Defend him? I'm just keeping him from you."

He didn't really pay any heed to the one that tried to grasp his arm but was pulled back by some force that he couldn't pay attention to. He had to focus on the one that was trying to bite his arm. Of course, being the idiot vampire he was, his teeth connected to the armor on his arm and he felt his teeth grind on the metal. The idiot didn't even check to make sure that it wasn't the arm where HE HAD TO THE BLADE! Randolph twisted the blade and used his hand to swipe his dagger at the vampires cheek. He then twisted his body and stomped his boot on both of his legs before turning and grabbing his face with the free hand still wet with holy water. Well, he did say that water would be one of the last things they would feel if they didn't stop trying to attack him. He didn't want to be a liar. He went to stick the dagger into the vamps chest as he held on to his face. He waited until the vampire dropped down in a burning heap.

The sweet sound of the screaming filled her ears. "To think, it took a boy to officially dispose of one of you and send the other packing." She snickered as the still writhing third tried to wrangle out of the grip.
"Better than you ever did," he hoarsely grunted.
"Oh, please, I just toyed with you for fun. But seeing as the boy is more heavily guarded, I think that leaves me with either finding the other coward..... or having my meal for the night right now."
"You..... wouldn't dare!" He writhed more in a feared panic, only to feel her shiver.
"Oooh, I love it when they squirm," she breathed, slowly reaching her lips to his neck. Other vampires never exactly tasted very good, but when in a pinch it was at least enough to keep some alive when other resources turned sour.

The agony was heard loud and clear as the hand pushed the head of the vampire latched to Randolph to the ground, erupting into flames before a pile of sifting ash was all that was left of him. The sprightly lad would begin to look for the last one that remained, only to see the silhouette of the girl draped over him, followed by a noise much like someone was eating a juicy fruit, the writhing male falling limp. Deep breathing was heard where he stood as she slipped off of him and stood, her face turning over her left shoulder and seeing him staring. Her lips were covered in blood, as also were her chin. She pursed her lips and licked her chin, slowly twirling to face him. She really wanted to get him, but the way he prepared himself unsettled her. Plus the armor would take some time to remove, and now that he had witnessed her feeding, she had made her first mistake. She had given into the urge to suck from the other male, and she probably looked like a prowling lone wolf in front of him with her eyes studying his features. Either that or she looked like a deer in headlights staring at the holy water and his dagger. If he were to approach, each step he'd take she'd take the same step back. No word escaped her, for she too was curious why an armed, defended boy was wandering through the vampire threatened part of the forest.

The boy let out a shay smirk as he saw the third vampire attacker fall into an ashy heap. Serves that punk right for trying to drain him, but he honestly felt that was a little too easy. Either that, or the advice those boring priests told him really was more effective than he thought. In any case, he just passed the first test or something like that. Really, this makes him wonder if the vampires were losing their edge on being remotely intimidating with brain as well as brawn. But his ears picked on some sort of screaming, and he turned to realize that the three vampires that tried to stupidly jump him was the least of his concerns. There was another one, this time a female, feasting on the final male vampire, and it was obvious that she must've been the one to remove the second one from latching to his other arm. He would be inclined to thank her for stopping them from restraining his abilities to stab them, if it wasn't for the fact that she was also a vampire....feasting on another. Clearly, the high priest didn't tell him about that little tidbit.

His breath hitched as her face turned to have her eyes gaze into his own. He even moved back on the off-chance that the vampire girl was gonna lash out at him for his blood. Granted, the fact she wasn't meant that she knew of the fact that he was in a position to hurt her if necessary. But that certainly didn't meant that she wouldn't try something the minute he tried to move towards her. As such, they were at a stand-still, and he was staring at her bloody lips with some nervous sweat coming down his cheeks. He then cleared his throat and spoke in a calm tone. "Excuse me? Your a vampire yes? I am Randolph, a servant of god sent to investigate these lands for the good of the people." God, that sounded even more lame the more he said that.

She licked her teeth before smiling at his comment. "You don't seem as bright as you look," she said cooly. "To me that's code for being sent to destroy all that we are, am I right?" Her shoulders relaxed, and rolled softly. "Though... if you were I'd probably have a dagger in my hand and some water across my face..." Her grin turned to a scowl and she cautiously circled him. "The townsfolk have grown more bold to send a young.... and particularly dashing candidate. So, are you going to kill me, too?" Her eyes never left him, a mixture of piercing eyes slicing into the soul, but a hint of allure and curiosity.

He kept his guard up around the vampire now having her scowl gaze onto his own cautious look. He probably was digging herself a bigger grave the more she allowed herself to circle him like a piece of meat, but he couldn't show fear in front of her. As attractive as she was to the pleasing eye, like his, he knew that he couldn't let himself be blinded by personal desires. Besides, it was technically her fault that she revealed herself as a vampire this early in the game. He may not have been subtle with his looks either, but at least he wasn't trying to look defenseless. Still, the eyes piercing his very soul didn't ease him in the slightest. "I didn't say that." He said quickly and calmly as he could. "I was just sent on a scouting mission, just to confirm some rumors of a large number of deaths in our town. I only have as much as I need to defend myself, but I will harm you if necessary."

"Rumors? I take it the buffoons are still as stubborn as ever, denying what exists within these lands. Though you are the first scout they've sent that hasn't met an early demise, so at least they are getting smarter." She took one leisurely step towards him, more of like a tempting strut. "Well, now that I think you know the rumors are true, are you going to send for the posse? There are more of us then you think there are."

She gave a small curtsy, which might take him aback. "Sephyr Necropolis. I would love to stay, dear boy, but seeing as you were lucky enough to meet four hunger seeking monsters, there's bound to be more coming, especially since one of them fled like the coward he is." She had taken a few more slow steps towards him, her hips rolling at just the right flow as she dared to stand a foot in front of him. "We can sort out your name and what else you plan to do here at my place.... away from prying eyes." She felt the heat of the blade before he would even attempt to defend, and hissed slightly in stepping back quickly. "That is, if you can make it in time. The castle lies just beyond the peak of the next hill, unless you're already satisfied with what you've seen here."

Okay, now he can either take this invitation, or just decline her offer and just turn back. Perhaps this wasn't really the best idea so far. "If I have to." He said as he stepped back slightly from her. "Really, I just came here to make sure the rumors were true or not. I'm not here to send a bunch of warriors here." He laughed a little nervously as he coughed. "Makes me wonder why they wouldn't send a knight or army in to stop them all." He was still considering her offer, and he had to admit that he was willing to not kill her, provided that she had little to do with the deaths and wouldn't try anything. No one else would even fathom why he was even thinking about her offer. But what could he honestly do? If he even tried to leave, she would possibly try to attack him when his back was turned. Besides, maybe he was being naive, but t least her bow meant that she was at least formal, along with her...hips that were quite succulent and he stop thinking on that.

He gave her a little nod. "Let me get the intro out of the way by saying that you can call me Randolph." He said with a small smile. "We can discuss on these rumors at your castle then, but I'll be keeping an eye on you. I assume you own the castle in it's entirety and you make sure no one else owns it?"

"Ooh, you catch on fast, tiger," she cooed. "Been defending it for quite some time, though I won't bore you with those details." A single finger began to twirl her hair as she bit her lip lightly. "Right this way, Randolph. I'd rather not meet any other nuisances dying to get their hooks into you." Her voice continued it's intoxicating flow, leading him through the trees until they reached the summit of the hill, the dark castle looming at it's base. If it weren't for the darkness and eery feeling in the air, it was a rather peaceful sight. Often Sephyr would search the surroundings, eyes never blinking as she snuck towards the entrance, her elegance exceeding many and her grace almost unrivaled.

"Hmm, I thought we'd have a horde to deal with tonight," she murmured, approaching a moat before stopping and turning to the boy. "There is only one way in. The bridge can only be opened from the inside, so I'll only be a moment." Her sneer had returned as before his very eyes she shrunk to the size of a small dog, and upon closer inspection she had morphed into a bat. Her clothes seemed to vanish as the bat now flew through a small crevice in the side of the stone wall. The large, wooden drawbridge held by chains began to creak and moan as it slowly slid down until it lay over the moat, the bat returning to flutter over the clothes before changing back, her clothes almost magically upon her once more.

"Well, welcome to my lovely abode, Randolph.... mmmmm... nicely rolls off the tongue, too." She entered again inside, turning back to see if he'd follow. She did silently laugh to herself that his curiosity had got the better of him, but she still would have trouble luring him fully in to her charms. As the two entered she veered to her left, pulling on the chain to raise the drawbridge and locking it in place.

Torches lit the hall in front of them, with pictures upon the stone face, red rugs lining the middle of the floor, with chandeliers also brightening up the soft space. "Feel free to have a look around. I don't normally have guests, so forgive me for the... mess," she said, referring to the cobwebs and thin layer of dust covering everything as she wiped some of it away from her.
"So, now you know of our existence, what else have those religious blabbers been forcing down your throat?" she asked softly.

Randolph kept a close eye out for anything as they made their way to her castle. His senses may not have been as sharp as her own, but that didn't meant that he wouldn't kept his fields of vision covered. When they eventually got to the entrance of the castle, he had to frown a little at how...stereotypical it all looked. Did all vampires just loved the count Dracula motiff so much that they needed to make their castle too unsubtle to conceal themselves from human beings. He was surprised when she turned into a bat to open the gate, but he did know that it was such as the way of all vampires. He moved into the castle and kept his eyes on the inside, and the girl at times.

Okay, he'll admit that her voice and bodily charms were a bit alluring, but his attention was mostly split on the rather rich background of the inside of the castle. He really took a look at the rugs and the chandeliers with some admiration. She definitely had a lot more riches than his family ever did. But what did he really expect? She's a vampire, and immortal beings usually had all the time in the world to gather vast veins of wealth to make themselves comfortable. He then noticed her saying about what else did those priests say and he turned to pull back his hood slightly.

"Well, they told me that vampires were dark heathens and the like." He said casually. "But honestly, I never paid attention to what they said. I only took the scouting job because it made me get away from the town, and it pays well enough."

"Oh, so I take it you're more of a neutral party? Now that's even more interesting." She did cock an eyebrow at what the priests called her. "Well, they've become more kind in the names they call us. I've had many instances with them I've lost count there's too many. She took a little bit of advantage she had as he looked at each piece of the place with awe, running a hand along his metal covered one, giving it a light tap with a finger. When he flinched she took a step back. "They must really want you to succeed to send a scout this heavily armored." She stepped into the first door on the left, entering a kitchen. One hand balled into a fist as she placed it under her chin, stroking her lips before walking over to a wash basin and clearing the dry flecks of blood from her face.

"I don't know how much food there is in the place, or if it's any good, but you are welcome to help yourself. I'll be waiting out here," she said, sauntering over to another door and seductively exiting with the contagious smile on her face. She sat on a couch and crossed one leg over the other very slowly, spreading both arms on the back of the chair, shimmying her shoulders to sink into the soft fabric of it.
