What happened was they had Scarlett (thank christ!) record the vocals of the song....and then hadn't a clue what to actually do with incorporating it! The film ended up with more of the original film's music by the end than what they had intended to start with. Near the film's completion (December 2015, it was that late!!) they hired Mark Ronson to try and do something with what Johansson had done for them so it didn't go to waste and presto, the song made the credits. Be thankful it's there at all. Was a total last minute decision. Just think, if they hadn't asked Scarlett to sing it during her sessions....... shocked

Ronson has said there is going to be some remixes of the track released but currently there is no word on when these will come out.

People have complained the song "wasn't really in the movie". They seem to be forgetting that wonderful credits sequence at the end done in psychedelic hypnotic colors and images. I just wave 1994's Jungle Book in their faces and their instantly reminded how ungrateful their being and thus, shut themselves up lol

But there is a genuine reason, despite the lateness of recording the track, why it never made any scenes in the actual movie. The problem is where Kaa's scene takes place. In my view it's much too early in the picture. So therefore Trust In Me would have been the first song actually heard before we got Baloo's and then King Louie's. Jon Favreau felt, rightfully so, it wasn't the ideal song they should start with. And hence they reserved it for the credits. But if her scene had occurred after the big I Wanna Be Like You sequence (coming right before Mowgli returns briefly to the Man Village to obtain fire would have been perfect), it's certainly likely she would have sung the song directly to Neel Sethi.

It's credits appearance is just fine however. They clearly put it there to make up for the character's single scene. In the following link Scarlett Johansson herself talks about her opinion of the song: http://parade.com/466655/lhochwald/welcome-to-the-jungle-all-star-casts-heats-up-the-new-jungle-book/#gallery_466655-2

Scarlett's cover has DECIMATED pretty much all cover's of Trust In Me there has ever been....forever. What are you guys on about? It...is...fantastic!!!

Finally a version of the song that actually sounds like an homage to the original as well as re-inventing it for modern times. Mark Ronson did a spectacular job on this. This is also the very first time the track has been produced again by Disney itself since the original by Sterling Holloway. 50 long years! It's come full circle with a megaton blast!! And let's not forget sung "in character"....Scarlett is actually PLAYING Kaa after all.

All the others have been dreary piano jazz numbers. Are you seriously suggesting to me that vomit inducing, sugar coated pop one Selena Gomez did is *choke* better?!! Nuts! Absolutely nuts! Here we have a version that sounds actually snakey, sexy and hypnotic (thanks to those amazingly cool sound effects of chimes and swirls throughout). Ronson knew precisely what it should be again. The classic beat has also been restored with some enhancements.

Put simply a cinematic dream come true. Scarlett is known to have a nice singing voice but the inclusion of Trust In Me was by no means a forgone conclusion on this project for the longest time. The best it could have gotten was a single dialogue line reference as seen in the trailers. We've been given the ultimate gift from Ms Johansson and this alone allows me to forgive the short screen time. 1994's Jungle Book disaster this most certainly was not!

I'm not going to argue that Scarlett's version of Trust in Me isn't great. It's currently my favorite version of the song outside of the original. I'm also not insinuating that any of the other covers are better than the original or this cover. (Though in my opinion, Susheela Raman's version IS pretty close to being on par with it.) What I will say though is that this song is rather special to hearts of Kaa fans, and ANYONE who covers it deserves a little bit of credit.

Think about this actual song for just a moment... Trust in me is nothing more than a song where the singer basically tells you can trust them... It's not a song everyone is going to sing because there is frankly no reason to sing it. It's not a love song, a song with a great story, or a song that will break records as a top 20/40/100 hits. There is literally NO reason to sing this song. Yet, when a singer decides to sing it for any reason OTHER than being a star in a live action remake of our favorite movie, it's impressive to me.

To my knowledge, there are only 10 to 15 artists who have actually sung this song. Again, a song with no reason to be sung. To have this many covers, or ANY cover of it is amazing in it's own right. There has to be a reason why people would even THINK about singing a song that has no reason to be sung. I'd like to think that these artists who cover the song are like us. People who have a passion or fascination with the jungle book. To me, every cover of Trust in Me whether a piano-jazz movement, a pop remix, or a true homage to the original, is special. I would admire anyone who covered the song and think their work deserves to at least be acknowledged in the community.

The new film just released an official music video. Is it the usual crowd pleasers The Bare Necessities or I Wanna Be Like You?

No, it's Trust In Me!

Prefer the album and end credits film version but this remix equivalent is lots of fun with the video's visuals and it's just great it's the song chosen to be given this honor. A surprising and welcome choice. Expect this to be on the Blu Ray release list of extras.
